Cannondale took a wrong turn a couple of years ago with some not so great bikes. But since the release of the Cannondale Super Six road bike in 2008, the line of mediocre bikes has come to a full stop. Cannondale Super Six bikes feature full carbon frames for one of the strongest rides available for any road bike on today's market. With Cannondale's new found ability to produce superb carbon frames, riders of the Super Six have found increased power from the strengthening of this frame that allows for more power through to the road instead of being lost in the bottom bracket due to too much flex.

With this strong frame, comes a price. The Cannondale Super Six road bike frame is over $2,000 with 105 components installed. Most aren't going to want this base model, though, and instead will instantly go toward one of the Hi-Mod versions. Top of the line price for the Hi-Mod Super Six? $9,000 with Campy Super Record components of course! Build this Super Six out to the match the Team Hi-Mod with Mavic Cosmic Carbon clincher wheels, and you've got practically the same bike that won the overall '10 Giro D’Italia.

In addition to higher quality components, the Hi-Mod versions of the Super Six also have a much smaller headtube than the base models. At just 1 1/8" slimmed down from 1.5", Cannondale is able to increase the rigidity of the bike at the fork level while still making the bike even lighter.

With all of these improvements, the frame itself only comes in at 890 grams or 1.96 pounds. The fully outfitted Cannondale Super Six Hi-Mod Team bike weighs in at just 14.7 pounds (for the size 52 bike), making this Cannondale one of the lightest bikes available currently.
