The Cervélo S3 road bike is the high-end choice of professional athletes and enthusiasts alike. With the lightest aero frame made, this road bike reduces drag to a minimum, corners flawlessly and takes hills with ease. Norwegian world road bike champion, Thor Hushovd, called it his favorite road bike and continues to take it to victories.
This versatile bike rewards riders in fast solos, 2-minute intervals, and tempo rides. Earning a worldwide reputation for its leading technology, Cervélo S3 bikes are also equipped (as of this writing) with Zipp 404 tubular wheels, a Fi'zi:k's Arione saddle and rotor cranks. Overall design dampens rough surfaces earning its “comfort ride” reputation. You can of course purchase the Cervelo S3 as just a frame and build your own bike, but for those looking to get on the road asap, these comps are probably going to be the most widely used.
With their Smartwall carbon technology, strength is optimized with computer-aided design; fiber direction, shape and size are calculated for the 300 plus carbon frame pieces. With internal cables, replaceable Teflon liners, and integrated adjustment riders enjoy crisp shifting. The oversized bottom bracket aligns the carbon fibers for complex frame stressors. Frontal drag is reduced by the narrowing between the bearings. With their TrueAero design, airflow is directed to increase stability in crosswinds. Every part is designed to minimize drag.
Critics who have road tested the Cervelo S3 rave about its handling on city streets and the road. Cornering can be difficult on any bike, but this one takes corners at up to 20 mph without slipping or skipping. The handlebars turn without effort, off the seat stomps translate directly to the road, and it maintains well with lateral movements. Reviewers also note its climbing and descending abilities. Long climbs can be a torture, but on the steepest climbs many report the S3 as better than adequate. It’s on a descent the bike really performs. All agree, even at high speed, this road bike has no downhill vibration or shaking.
The Cervélo S3 road bike is like few others. Lightweight construction, skilled engineering, and its aero design combine to make this a premium road bike everyone will appreciate.
